"There Will Be Blood" is a jaw-dropper. An astonishing picture that struck me as a creation myth for our time. Forget the Information Age, we live in the Petroleum Age, folks.

I just saw the film in a packed Manhattan theater. Not a peep, not a rustled candy wrapper, not a bleep from a goddamn cellphone during the entire showing. People watched Daniel Day-Lewis in complete amazement. This was a I've-seen-it-all NYC audience and they applauded at the end.
